The job/ work: “Oh dear, what a hassle. Such a pain. Long hours, loyalty, unquestionable loyalty, mindless obedience.” a bunch of “You’re not good enough & C.O.” again I thought, and I was right.
So I was told and learned early, that work was a must, an unpleasant one for sure, and had to be done in order to survive. For a looong time. “Better choose wisely dear, ‘cause if not, you will die” – little did I know that I would “die” anyway inside in the process but eh… A job a good paying stable job was all my parents ever preached about, all the rich people were evil, thieves, and liars. (never had the chance to find out if truly all of them are or not).
So I got a job, as a student and the “rich” owner was exactly how my parents said. Laid us on unpaid leaves without our consent, overworked us till we made enough for his new car, house, new business, and so on.
Then when I got a corporate job, Lord oh Mighty.
The drill was: just smile stupidly even if you see stupidity unfold, you have to pretend that the asses in management are the Lord’s most desirable and intelligent creatures. (of course, they are not, no more than you or me). They like to torture and break people and enjoy doing it, they are specially recruited to do so.
Ruthless, ignorant, emotionally crippled, workaholic, dictatorial MF-ers. Driven only by results at any costs. Always do as they are told by upper management, sadistic, masochistic BT-ards. Women and men are all the same.
Rarely had I found humanity in this category. They were all loathed and eaten out by the rest. Considered softies and incompetent. Even if the teams under them were more productive and more dedicated than all others. Because they did not have the teeth to bite back and push, they would get demoted, fired. Rarely do they make it up the ladder. And if so at the end of the ladder, many realize that they are on the wrong train towards happiness and quit, becoming financially independent, creators or humanitarians. Good for them!
The rest of us are stuck underneath a psychopath’s butt. Until we die inside and give up hope, or change jobs to go to another psychopath’s butt or free ourselves in whatever manner, with the option included to become a psychopath ourselves.
Getting a new job after 7-8 years in the same place you are faced with some serious “millennial” shit. Job descriptions that would scare our children and make them cry at night, interviews longer than movies, tests worse than SAT, psychological profile tests to see if “you are the right one for the team”. I mean at 35 I feel overwhelmed, and I am a professional with 15 years of experience, but it seems still not good enough for the multitude of talents and experience a “millennial” is seemingly born with and of course, an impressive portfolio goes along with it.
Bullshit. They are sorting out only people who are brainless, lack individuality, feelings, or free will. In other words, they want zombies, cattle. High functioning psychopaths. Guess what?! even machines these days have identity, character, some Ai is learning feelings, expressions because we are starting to lose our humanity.
Dedication “patriotism” is mandatory. If you are woken up at night and asked why do you live, you must always shout “I live for the X company, I love my job my manager, and my coworkers”, if not although colleagues sometimes can be treasures, you are outcast for saying the truth: “I work at this job for the salary, to make a living, to fend for my children and family. In short to survive.”
The job itself is not as nearly as elaborate as the description, in many cases, the description is just “designed” that way – because in the 21st century we design everything- to make you feel overwhelmed, discouraged if you feel any type of feeling less than a “millennial” who are looked upon like aliens (I am one BTW, just an earlier version) and maybe even give up on applying to it “saving time” for a lot of HR workers out there. But guess what, none of that matters for people who are desperate, and half of the applicants are, so no time is saved. Oh, and ‘cause multitasking is like eating popcorn. We must all be savants, unicorns, and geniuses who only desire a job, no other desires in mind. Or feelings for that matter.
BS. With capitals. Who is this serving anyway? It is not doing anyone a favor. All that we make, design, or whatever we do for people with people. And the more we know about those people the more we can make, and we can make it better and we can make the process great, constructive, friendly, nature-friendly, human friendly, or horrid.
The other thing is, if we relate to those people (empathy plays a big role) because we are the people, we can provide for their needs / our needs. Even if we make stuff for animals we still do it so people would buy it. Could a dog buy itself a raincoat? Or a toy? I believe that people have different declared versions of why they buy stuff, other than the necessary ones like food water shelter. But the essence is I wanna’ look/ seem nice/ desirable useful/ belong/ loved etc in the eyes of others even if that other is a pet. We have a couple of basic needs and we take advantage of them to the moon and back.
Now, in companies that dehumanize their employees and do not take into account their opinions and drive, or their existence as an individual like a whole package (like in a marriage you bring your family and problems with you) and just want the “good stuff”, to use them and their abilities to do something and they play just one card – the need to survive/ belong – a big surprise is on the way. And by the way, the millennials are not the first wave of it. We cannot blame young people for vocalizing the accumulated frustration of the generations preceding them. We can only congratulate them for their integrity. They shall not tolerate any of the bullyings, blackmailing, humiliation or exploitation. They have, we all have much more to give to each other than that. And now we have ways to make a statement globally with a push of a button. We can and we will do it. It’s like the 5 o’clock news. It has always been a messy world out there but now everyone gets to see everything instantly. And it’s overwhelming for some, exciting or disgusting for others. Take your pick.
In our collective memory, we can recall vividly, because these are recent enough, TWO World wars, famine, economic depressions, pandemics, epidemics, genocides, revolutions and we still eat each other for breakfast every chance we get and blame others for our mistakes.
I mean from all the motivational speeches I listened to I understood that people want to be more, otherwise, why would millions of them watch these multiple times almost more than funny animal videos?
It is normal to want to be more, but why? And how? in what way? We cannot be all overachievers, we cannot all be special or gifted. Or can we? Some of us will never find out but we might as well long and search for it.
In a realistic sense yes we are special. We can all create a world around us in this life. It is our decision what we bring/ allow into it what we give to each other during our time. I mean if you grew up in a dysfunctional family abused and conditioned like me, let’s say you get to grow up physically healthy. You can see it as a second chance at life, to make the most out of it and be happy with whatever truly makes you happy.
FILL IT WITH JOY. Look around and think about what you are doing and if not passing on unhealthy habits patterns of behavior is the only thing you can do and it makes you feel useful and is enough for you you already made the world a better place around you. That’s a really big achievement. I know. It is really hard to do. And it is painful too. But it’s worth it.
Be aware dear people that no one can make you or break you unless you let them. It is your choice to go to that job, you agree to rent out your time in return for a salary. Any time you let someone turn tables on you you dig yourself deeper. But you made this choice. You can handle it, and you are. What you did not agree to you cannot be forced to accept. We all are one but at the same time we are separate individuals with different values needs ideas and choices. So we won’t die of boredom until we complete the school of life. But we tend to forget.
